Just updating to address any questions we've been asked within the last month or so. Michael had me worried because he had a few things happen that aren't normal (eg shaking), which happened just before we found out about his brain tumor he had removed (6 years ago, now - yeah!). So, naturally, I hurried and got him in with his DR's - yes we procrastinate those visits. Sometimes you'd rather not deal with it, honestly. So, his neurosurgeon ordered detailed scans and blood tests to be done and after what took them a couple weeks to finalize the results, they've told us there is no sign of his tumor recurring. This is great news! I still am not convinced that the shaking was nothing, so we have him lined up now to run more blood work with his Endocrinologist, and we'll take it from there!
Also, we've had our little Scootie working with Kids on The Move for his gross motor delay. His DR thought his delay was significant enough that we need to do an MRI for him as well, so he had to be sedated for that. It was a REALLY long day, and it was very, very draining! The poor baby had to be knocked out for 2 hours. Then, he kept vomiting and vomiting as I was trying to drive us home. I felt so horrible! I pulled over and cleaned him up the first time, but after that, I didn't have any change of clothes and we were stuck in bumper to bumper rush hour traffic. When we finally go home from that, I bathed him and then he started puking more! Then, he would yell at us becuase he wanted to walk, but wasn't stable enough to do that without falling and hitting his head. We held on to him whenever he fought enough to stand and that would trigger a tantrum - he thought he could handle it... The results for this scan were in so fast. They had already called and left a message for me on my voicemail by the time we'd gotten home from teh procedure. We also got great news there too! They were looking for any evidence of a fetal stroke, or for any undeveloped connections in the brain, and it came back that they didn't see any sign of the stroke or "gray matter." This was great news too! The next week we had to visit with the Pediatric Neurologist for Scott, and after her evaluation, it's been determined that Scott has lower than average muscle tone. Now, the way this DR explained it to me is that muscle tone doesn't have anything to do with muscles per se, but rather muscle tone is the rate the brain sends signals to the body. It's why we aren't just puddles of inanimate matter. So, basically she went on to tell me that with early intervention, he should blend in as he gets older and that he just might not be an "athlete" because his signals are a little slower.
So, March held good news for our family - no one needs brain surgery! There's something to be grateful for!

So sad about Scott throwing up after sedation. Both times Bailey's had to be sedated, she comes out of it puking. Luckily, we've learned our lesson & are very prepared with the necessities in the car for whenever we might need them. Glad he's doing well.
