Family Home Evening: Carving Pumpkins

Last Monday was the big night....pumpkin carving time! The kids had a fun time! It's so funny how it takes them a few minutes to warm up to the idea of gutting a gourd! What's funny is when I told Gavin to pull out it's guts, he looked at me like "Are you for real?" I honestly think he had to process that for a minute - the term "guts," that is. (Disemboweling is generally frowned upon in our home....:)) Scott thought it was fun too. He particularly enjoyed beating the pumpkin with his spoon! He thought it made for a nice drum! Here Scott is not so sure what exactly he's supposed to do with the pumpkin, but he's excited about this big orange thing sitting on his high chair tray, 'cause it's a cool color.

Gavin is pretty excited about just how
much he can get out in one scoop!

Here's Scott demo-ing his new drum! He just thinks making a mess is cool!
Another shot of the boys hard at work and .....

Here's what we came up with:

I'm always fascinated by what a big deal Americans make of Halloween, it's lots of fun to look at all the pictures. Love the spider pumpkin.
