Digging Yourself a Hole

Digging himself a hole? That's pretty much what Michael's been doing! As some may know, Gavin decided to run the hose for a few minutes off the porch, which led to the discovery that we have a perfect little abscess under our patio. That causes water to fill up from under the window well just outside of our recently finished office (wood floors - yikes)! In the past we've had problems with this window filling up, and Michael finally received enough motivation to do something permanent with Gavin's recent discovery. So, we had to put in a "French" drain (sounds fancy doesn't it)? Basically that's a fun way to say he had to dig a ditch along the patio that's around 3 1/2 feet deep and then lay down some rock and tubing. Then he had to dig a big hole for the water to run to and fill it with gravel as well. Yeah - another big project. We seem to never run out of those! So, once again, the brother-in-laws and my Dad, came to the rescue! Thank you to Dad, Brad and Kirt for your help! It's too much for Michael to do on his own and I'm not able to do much with Scott still being so little, so with their help, what would've taken Michael a few weekends, only took up a day! So, a huge trench, a pit, and about 6 tons of gravel later......here it is! The boys had fun helping their Dads!
